The British weather is known to be grey and rainy, but it's also notorious for being glorious just before or after -- and never during -- the holidays. Now that our trips to the seaside towns are cancelled, of course we're having the longest sunny spell that anyone can remember. Even though we can't get much of a tan, nothing is stopping us from indulging in the cold and creamy dessert, in a civilised manner! Ice cream becomes a breeding ground for bacteria when it melts, so food safety dictates that we should scoop it out with a clean utensil and put it back into the freezer before the cat has a chance to get to it. Most grown-up cats are lactose-intolerant anyway, so it's for their own good too!
